Bringing Basic Back…The Life Skills of Love

Cooking, sewing, reading to our children … all simple acts, and sometimes even mundane. Yet they are some of the most common ways in which we give of ourselves to those we love.
On July 10, 2010, Enchanted Makeovers will continue our national tour by hosting an event for a Texas Women's Shelter, Called “Bringing Basic Back…The Life Skills of Love,” the event will focus on how these often under-appreciated tasks can spread joy and contentment to those around us. During a sewing class led by Debbie Maddy from Calico Carriage (www.calicocarriage.com) with assistance from Callie Works-Leary, owner of the Dallas-based CityCraft (www.citycraftonline.com), the women at the shelter will share stories and friendship while working together to make pillowcases and doll dresses. A cooking class conducted by Rachel Gaffney of Rachel Gaffney Real Ireland (www.rachelgaffneys.com) will show participants how to make a simple yet savory beef stew. And in “Bonding Through Books,” women will discover how the basic act of reading to their children can spark creativity, imagination and a love of learning.
The event will emphasize that love is in the details.
