2010 Beauty and Hope National Tour

Enchanted Makeovers was founded in 2007 with the goal of transforming shelters for women and children into heartwarming havens. Many of our volunteers and supporters have seen the results of our “extreme makeover” work firsthand or through photos and articles, and that is certainly a part of what we do. But it’s not everything. We’re also involved in numerous outreach efforts that are designed to build strong relationships among women—both our volunteers and the women living in shelters. We all come from various backgrounds and encounter different challenges, but we’re more alike than we are different. By reaching out to each other and sharing our stories, we can encourage and empower one another to achieve our potential.

In 2010, Enchanted Makeovers is traveling to locations around the U.S. to raise national awareness about the plight of women and children in shelters and to urge volunteers and communities to take action. Each event will feature a different theme and agenda, but they all have the same focus: to share a message of beauty and hope. You can join us on this meaningful journey by volunteering your time and talents or by making monetary donations to assist our efforts. By standing together, we can make a difference.

Tour Schedule

January 19th: Sisterhood of Dreamers into Doers NYC Event

On January 19th, 2010, 40 women from around the U.S. who are part of the Dreamers Into Doers group at MarthaStewart.com made a difference for a New York women's shelter for domestic violence called Safe Horizon. Each shared her time and her God given talents at this event, which was held at the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia offices. For some, this meant cooking or baking delectable treats; for others, it was handcrafting personal gifts; and some shared their stories and songs. We all need to stand together--not apart.

March 9th: Recipes of Hope  Women sharing a meal and a mission.

Kansas City, Mo.

On March 9, 2010, Enchanted Makeovers is heading to Kansas City, Mo., as part of a one-day event to bring a message of hope and love to residents of NewHouse, a shelter for victims of domestic violence. The event, called Recipes of Hope, will involve cooking at Function Junction (www.functionjunction.com) with the 30 women who live at Newhouse and sitting down to the meal at nearby Gifted Hands (www.giftedhandskc.com) while sharing laughter, tears and fellowship. We will also bring numerous inspirational, practical and personal gifts for the shelter and its residents. This outreach would not be possible without the help of numerous donors and volunteers.
